Can’t Stop the Serenity (CSTS) is an annual charity event for Equality Now, one of Joss Whedon’s most sponsored charities, where the ticket sales for Serenity are donated to the cause. If you call yourself a Browncoat, I highly suggest that you come to one of the events in June, and show your love for Firefly, Serenity, Joss Whedon, or show your support for Equality Now. As a special treat, certain cities are also getting a screening of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog to go with Serenity, a double feature that’s sure to be awesome. Here are the details listed on the SoCal Browncoats Page.
We are proud to announce the Four Can’t Stop the Serenity screenings in Southern California. Riverside is joining L.A., San Diego, and O.C. Woohoo! All the ticket purchasing and other details will be posted here shortly. For now, here are the dates and times for the screenings:
Los Angeles - Sunday June 14th at 10:00 AM at Laemmle’s Sunset 5
(Please note the change of location from last year and the matinee screening time.)
Orange County - Saturday June 20th at 9 PM at Starplex’s Woodbridge Movies 5
San Diego - Sunday June 21st (time and theater being finalized)
Riverside - Tuesday June 23rd at 7 PM at Ultrastar’s University Village 10
As a special bonus, we will be showing Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog at the Riverside screening! (If we can figure out a way to show it at the others, we will). We are also planning special live auctions, prize drawings and maybe even a costume contest or two.
As always, the CSTS screenings benefit Joss Whedon’s favorite charity, Equality Now. Come out to a screening (or more than one) and help us continue the Browncoat tradition of doing good works.
If Riverside is the only one that’s showcasing Dr. Horrible as well, then I’ll have to go to that one. Right now, I’m planning for both L.A. and Riverside. If you’re not in Southern California, please check the CSTS website to find screenings of your favorite movie in the whole ‘verse at a location near you.
